- GUPPIES
SNEAK BY THE BIOHAZARD 8-3
FOR THEIR NINTH STRAIGHT WIN!!! -
9/10/03 - The Guppies continue to roll in the 2003 summer season winning
their ninth straight game and their 80th game in team history. However,
the final score doesn't give any justification to how close this game
really was, as the Biohazard really took it to a short handed Guppies
team. In the First Half the Guppies would score first as John Carroll
(1-0-1) fired a shot from the blue line that beat the Biohazard netminder.
The Biohazard would tie the score at one when Bartos beat Joe Linskey
low on the stick side. The Biohazard continued to buzz around the Guppies
net for most of the first but Linskey was equal to the task keeping the
Guppies in the game. At the end of the First the Guppies were being out
shot and out played but thanks to Linskey the score was 1-1. Early in
the Second Dan Pequita (3-1-4) would get the Guppies offense started scoring
unassisted. Thirty seconds later the Guppies would strike again, as Brian
Kelly (3-1-4) received a pass from Tom Mierkiewicz (0-2-2) and beat the
hazard netminder. With the blood in the water the Guppies started to pour
it on as Kelly would set up Pequita for his second of the night. Tim Poulin
(1-2-3) would add to the Guppies lead scoring a short handed goal mid-way
though the second. Down 5-1 late in the half the Biohazard started to
make a come back scoring the next the two goals cutting the Guppies lead
to 5-3. However, Pequita would end the Biohazard come back finishing a
pass from Poulin to get the Hat Trick. Late in the half Pequita would
set up Kelly as the two broke in on a 2-on-1. Dave Armenia (0-1-1) set
Kelly up later for his third of the night. Marc Crayton(1-2-3) would finish
the Guppies scoring with just :50 seconds remaining. The Guppies finish
the 2003 Summer season Wednesday September 17th at 7pm as they face off
against the Knights. The Guppies will be looking to capture the third
perfect regular season in Team history. Tickets are on sale at the Z-rink
ticket window and the Cloverleaf Circle store in Killingworth.
