-KELLY LIGHTS THE LAMP 7 TIMES AS THE GUPPIES SLIP PAST THE KNIGHTS 11-8! -

8/20/03- As the Guppies and the Knights faced off for the Second Half of their Home-and- Home series, there were signs early that this would be a battle. The Guppies were down in numbers and the Knights were looking to avenge their loss from a week earlier. Early in the first the Knight's forward J. Sherwood would score off of a great individual play to give them the lead. A few seconds later the Guppies would strike back as Brian Kelly (7-2-9) scored off of an end to end rush. As they did all night the Knights answered the Guppies tally by regaining the lead off of a D. Piccolo goal. Kelly would score the next three goals with helpers from Dan Pequita(2-3-5), Tom Mierkiewicz(0-2-2), and Tim Poulin (0-2-2). With the score 4-2 late in the First Half the two teams went on a scoring Frenzy. The Knights would score to make it a 4-3 game, only to be answered by Pequita a few seconds later as he buried a Mierkiewicz pass. Knights forward M. Dupuis would score the next two goals, only 12 seconds apart, to tie the game at five aside. Kelly would give the Gupps the lead again scoring with just 12 seconds left in the half, but again the Knights answered as Zuba scored with just 8 seconds remaining. At the Half the two teams were in a 6-6 tie with a lot to be decided. Rob Murphy (2-2-4) started the scoring in the second half by firing a LASER from the blue line at eluded the Knight's netminder. Again, the Knights answered off of another great individual effort from Sherwood, who scored despite having Guppies defenseman Dan Pequita draped all over him. The Gupps would score the next two tallies as Murphy and Kelly exchange goals and assist. Pequita would add to the lead with just over five minutes remaining with a great shot from the point. As the time ticked away the Knights added another goal but were beaten when Kelly lofted a shot from the red line into the empty Knight's net for his seventh goal of the night. The Guppies improved to a 6-0 record for the Summer 03 season, they face off next Wednesday at 9pm vs the Biohazard. Tickets are still available.
