- GUPPIES WIN THEIR SEASON OPENER 8-3 OVER THE BIOHAZARD -

Glastonbury, CT June 11th, 2003. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies spring 2003 season.

7/23/03- The Killingworth Guppies opened their Summer 2003 season in a busy fashion with a doubleheader on Wednesday night. First up for the Gupps were the always tough Biohazard. The Biohazard would take it to the Guppies early scoring the first two goals of the game. Killingworth looked sluggish, like a team that hadn't played in a few weeks. The hazard were flying around the Guppies zone firing numerous shots on Joe Linskey "The guys looked awful tonight especially early" The Rookie, Dan Pequita, started the Guppies comeback when he buried a pass from Brian Kelly midway through the first. At the half the Guppies were losing and being out shot, "It didn't look good at the half" explained Guppies forward Dave Armenia. Early in the second, Rob Murphy tied the game off of a pass from Pequita. In his first game ever, in the Guppies blue, Pequita was impressing the fans often both defensively and offensively. "Danny is a great pick up for our team"stated Guppies assistant captain John Carroll. Pequita continued to add to the legend by setting up Kelly on the next goal and then scoring the Guppies fourth tally of the night. With the score 4-3 midway through the second half Rob Murphy took over scoring three more times, while Tim Poulin scored his first of the season en route to the Guppies 8-3 victory. With game one in the Books it was time for the Gupps to focus on game two and the Knights.

- GUPPIES SWIM BY KNIGHTS 8-3 -

The Guppies looked more like themselves in the latter half of the doubleheader taking it to the Knight fast and often. Tim Poulin scored the first two Guppies goals both off of passes from Rob Murphy. Dave Armenia would score his first of the season a few minutes later off of a pass from Kelly. The Guppies continued to pour it on when John Carroll scored from the right face-off circle to give the Gupps the 4-0 lead. Murphy would give the Guppies the 5-1 lead st the half when he buried a pass from Poulin with just over two minutes left in the first. The Knights would score to make it a 5-2 game when Brian Kelly scored on one of the weakest backhand shots this reporter has ever seen.
