Official Game Summary

Armenia Leads Guppies Past Fire Ants 6-2!

Glastonbury, CT July 17, 2008. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2008 season.

07/17/2008- Thursday night the Guppies were back in action facing off against an always tough Fire Ants team. Unlike the prior week, the Guppies would have some of their top players (Jason Zito, Rob Murphy, Dan Pequita, and Joe Linskey) back in the line up. Linskey played one of his best games of the season making some spectacular saves and leading a few Teammates to ask "Is that really Linskey in net?" Joe's on ice performance should help quiet all the off ice rumors that have recently linked Linskey to pop singer Madonna. Both parties have denied the allegations! An unidentified team official but it best when he said "No one ever wants to bat after A-Rod!".  Back to the game, the Guppies would strike first as Keith Millen (1-2-3) scored .11 seconds in to the half. The Ants were shorthanded as several of their players were delayed. However, despite being shorthanded the Ants managed to tie the score at one.  That's when the "Dave Armenia & Jon Stevenson Show" started. Armenia (2-0-2) scored off a rebound that kicked out into the front of the Ants net. The Guppies continued to pour on the pressure which lead to a Jon Stevenson (2-0-2) goal with .35 remaining. Stevenson goal was a result of a great heads up hail mary pass from Rob Murphy (0-1-1) which gave Stevenson a breakaway.  Only nine seconds later, Armenia would score his second goal of the game camped out in front of the ants net. The front of opponents nets is quickly becoming Dave's office.  At the Half  the Guppies lead 4-1!

Late in the Second Half the Fire Ants made a push to get back into the game, scoring to make it 4-2, with 8:26 remaining.  The Guppies quickly put an end to any Fire Ants come back when Steven scored his second goal of the game and then five seconds later Dan Pequita (1-2-3) scored his first of the game. The Guppies finished the game strong and skated off the dek with the 6-2 victory. The win, got the Guppies back on the right track and hopefully puts their only two losses for the season behind them.

The Guppies face off against Blue Foot this Thursday (7/24) at 10pm. This game will feature the return of Andy Pettola in the Guppies net. Tickets for this game are limited.
