Glastonbury, CT May 1, 2007. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2007 season.

05/1/2007- Tuesday night the Killingworth Guppies looked to secure the top seed in the ZRink B-Division playoffs as they faced off against the always tough Thunder Bay team. TB is currently in second place and a Guppies win or tie would guarantee the Fish the top spot. Killingworth was short handed this night as both Tim Poulin and Rob Murphy were unable to attend. Not to mention, the Thunder was looking to avenge a 4-0 loss to the Guppies a week before.  Things didn't look good for the Gupps.  TB out played the Guppies from the drop of the puck but goals from Keith Millen (2-0-2) and Dan Pequita (1-0-1) allowed the Guppies to keep the game close. At the half the TB held the 3-2 lead.

In the second, the older Guppies squad couldn't keep up with the TB's full roster. Thunder Bay took control of the game late and scored seven second half goals. Millen scored again to help the Guppies offense but at that point it was like throwing a bucket of water on a house fire.....it didn't help! Joe Linskey was lit up like Rockefeller Center on Christmas eve!! At the end, the Guppies held onto their first place ranking but now it's in jeopardy.

The Guppies end the regular season as they face off against the Fire Ants. The Gupps need to win or have Thunder Bay lose to captures the regular season title. However, the Fire ants are always a tough competitor. Things don't get easier from here. Tickets are on sale!!

SIDE NOTES:

- Rob Murphy and Tim Poulin were healthy scratches.

- VP of Marketing for the Lit Up Corporation, Blaine Lacher, was happy to see Linskey getting smoked Tuesday night. He was quoted as saying "The higher Linskey's GAA goes, the higher my bonus! Thanks Joe"
