Official Press Release

Guppies Bounce Ball Smashers 8-5!

Glastonbury, CT April 24, 2007. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2007 season.

04/24/2007- Ladies and Gentlemen if you can, or already have, figured out the Guppies can you please let me in on the secret! The Guppies came out last week and opened up a 3-0 lead and went on to tie the Fire Ants. Tuesday night the Guppies went down 0-3 and came back to win 8-5. It has many in Guppies Nation scratching their heads, including several players "I'm not sure what's going on but I like to win" stated Dan Pequita (1-0-1). Tim Poulin (2-0-2) had little clue as well "Hey, I don't know how to split an atom but I know it gets done. Guppies fans shouldn't worry how we win as long as we win".  Poulin started the Guppies comeback just under 8 minutes into the game when he buried a pass from Rob Murphy (0-3-3). Murphy would find Keith Millen (1-1-2) only seconds later to make it 3-2....Smashers. Jason Zito (3-0-3) was the BIG Fish on this night, as he scored the first of three goals to tie the game at Three. Joe Linskey struggled to get himself into the game, as he sported his worst showing of the season. Guppies forward Dave Armenia: "Joe? Joe Linskey?    Yeah, he sucked tonight!" The Smashers would gain the one goal lead again, however,  Zito scored with only :51 seconds remaining to tie the game at Four.

In the Second, Zito was continuing his impressive night, scoring on a hard low shot to the glove side. A huge goal, it gave the Guppies their first lead of the night. The Smashers, see their commanding lead turn into a one goal deficit, continued to place pressure on the Guppies which resulted in their 5th goal of the night. With just over 11 minutes remaining Dan Pequita (1-0-1) scored to give the Fish the one goal lead again. Penalty troubles hit the Guppies again, as always, late in the game. However, they were able to kill both Smashers opportunities. Believe it or not.....Linskey was excellent during both Guppie Penalty kills. Brian Kelly (1-1-2) scored with :45 seconds remaining to end any Smashers comeback. While Poulin added the exclamation point on his empty net goal.

Next Week the Guppies face off against Thunder Bay. If any of you in Guppies Nation missed either of the first two match ups between these two squads, You probably won't want to miss the third installment. Game time is 10:00pm! Tickets are limited

SIDE NOTES:

-All Guppies were present and accounted for.

- Thanks Joe! Tim Poulin has to be thanking Linskey for letting in a goal on the second shot he faced. If he hadn't Poulin would have been on the 30 pack again next week. Not only did Tim have the first goal of the game but he also had the first Guppies penalty of the game.
