Glastonbury, CT March 13, 2007. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2007 season.

03/13/2007- The Guppies came into Tuesday nights game looking to get there first win of the season after a tough start against the Fire Ants the week before.  Good news, The Guppies came out of the bowl swimming. Keith Millen (2-1-3) scored .30 seconds into the game giving the Guppies a lead, A lead they would hold onto all night.  Millen scored again, about six minutes later, on a slap shot from just inside the blue line. Not to be out done, Tim Poulin (1-2-3) took a pass from Marc Crayton (1-1-2) and scored to make it 3-0 Guppies at the 10:10 mark of the First.  Down by three, The Ball Smasher's defenseman Jim Miller turned it up a notch and scored twice in just over a minute of hockey to make it a 3-2 game. In the minutes that followed the Smashers swarmed the Guppie's net but Joe Linskey was equal to the task. Late in the Half the Guppies took control again as Rob Murphy (1-1-2) scored his first of the season. Just over a minute later, Crayton crashed the net  and slid the puck through the Ball Smashers net minder's five hole. The Guppies would take the commanding 6-2 lead when Brian Kelly (1-1-2) scored off a pass from Dan Pequita (0-1-1) with just .16 seconds remaining in the first.

The Guppies came out in the second looking to add to their lead but were turned aside time and time again by the Ball Smasher's goaltender, Steve Delucia. The Guppies also ran into a few penalty problems as both Poulin and Dave Armenia earned trips to the sin bin.  The Smashers took advantage of  one of their power plays as they scored to make it 6-3.  To the Smasher's credit they never stopped playing hard. Eventually they scored again to make it 6-4 but the the Guppies managed to hold on to secure the win.

The Guppies face off against  Thunder Bay next Tuesday at 10pm. At a quick glance of the Thunder Bay roster. The Killingworth Krier's sports team didn't see notorious Thunder Bay forward Carl Racki listed. However, the Guppies coaching staff has warned their players to make sure they secure their helmets. In an attempt to avoid what happened to Hamilton Mustangs forward Derek Sutton a few years back. Tickets for the game are on sale now at the special "West Coast" rate.
