Glastonbury, CT May 8, 2007. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2007 season.

05/08/2007- After the fin slapping the Guppies took last week at the hands of Thunder Bay, many in Killingworth wondered how the fish would react in their game against the Fire Ants. As luck would have it the Fire Ants were short handed as many of their "regular" big names were out of the line up. The Guppies took advantage as Dave Armenia (1-1-2) buried his first goal of the season while crashing the Ants net. Armenia broke the scoring seal and the Guppies went to work, Dan Pequita (1-1-2) scored to make it 2-0 only minutes later. Thirty one seconds after Pequita's goal Brian Kelly (3-1-4) scored to give the Gupps the 3-0. The Guppies continued to roll as Rob Murphy (1-3-4) found Keith Millen (2-2-4) for his first of the night. Moments later Millen returned the favor by setting up Murphy. Up 5-0 The Guppies looked to be in good shape, however, as we all found out last week, it's not to hard to score on Linskey. The Ants did just that to make it a 5-1 game late in the first half.  The Guppies answered as Millen and Kelly scored again before the half.

The Guppies started the Second Half with a 7-1 lead, which quickly became an 8-1 lead as Jason Zito (2-1-3) scored .16 seconds in. Marc Crayton (1-3-4).....Yeah Marc scored...Trust me, We're all surprised!......scored only .33 seconds later and the Guppies were up 9-1.The Guppies went on cruise control the rest of the way as the Fire Ants tried to climb back into the game, The Ants managed to score three Second Half goals but it was too little to late. Kelly and Zito added goals late as the Guppies skated to victory.

The Fish earned the Top seed in the Z-Rink B Division Playoffs. They will face off against the fourth seeded Ball Smashers in the Semi-Finals on May 29th at 9pm. The Fire Ants will face off earlier that night against the second seed Thunder Bay.  Guppy Playoff tickets go on sale Friday May18th at 9am.

SIDE NOTES:

- Tim Poulin was a healty scratch.

- Future Guppy: Marc Crayton's wife gave birth to their first child....A Boy! Andrew Dean Crayton was born on April 27th. The entire Killingworth Guppies organization celebrates Andrew's arrival and wishes the Crayton Family the best of luck!

- Costly first goal! Dave Armenia's first goal of the season will cost him. Since there were no penalties Tuesday night and Dave scored the first goal of the game, he has the honor of purchasing next weeks 30-pack. Thanks Dave!

- Former Guppie, Tom Mierkiewicz's stag party is this weekend.The CT state Police and the National Guard have been alerted!
