Glastonbury, CT June 2, 2004. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2004 season.
6/2/04 - The Killingworth Guppies were coming off their first lost of the season on Wednesday night as they faced off against the Brick Road Brawlers. The Brawlers would be a good test as they were tied for second place coming into last nights game.As they have the past few games the Guppies gave up the first goal of the game when the Brawler's Montresor beat Linskey off a scrum in front of the net. However, the Guppies were looking to right the ship and they started midway through the first half. Marc Crayton (2-0-2) started the scoring at the 15:58 mark. Dan Pequita (3-1-4) would score at the 15:22 mark. Then at the 15:15 mark Tim Poulin (2-1-3) would score his first of the night. In one minute the Guppies gained total control of the game and they continued to pound at the Brawlers. With just under fourteen minutes remaining Rob Murphy (2-3-5) ripped a shot past the Brawlers netminder. Pequita would round out the Guppies first half scoring on a great individual play at the 11:56. Later in the First the Brawlers stepped up their attack on the Guppies net but Linskey was there to turn them aside. It was one of Linskey's best performances in quite some time.
In the Second Half the Guppies would continue scoring as Poulin scored his second of the night off a pass from Pequita. A few minutes later Jason Zito (1-1-2) scored the prettiest goal of the night beating Simao to the glove side. The Brawlers would make the score 7-2 when Brown beat Linskey on a Guppies defensive break down. The Guppies however, weren't about to give this game away as Crayton, Pequita, and Murphy added insurance goals to make it 10-2 late in the second half. The Brawlers did score once more with just 2:16 remaining in the game. The Guppies had a solid effort on Wednesday night and looked to be getting back on track. There was some Great Defensive efforts by several players but Dave Armenia, Mulcahy, and Crayton's effort really stood out. The Guppies look to secure the top seeded in the playoffs with a win on Sunday vs the Blu Baz. Game time is 4pm and some tickets are remaining.
