Glastonbury, CT June 16, 2004. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2004 season.

6/16/04 - The Killingworth Guppies enter the Spring 2004 playoffs looking to advance to their fifth straight Championship game. They would have to get past a talented Brick Rd Brawlers team to do it but the Guppies got off to a Fast start. A Very Fast Start!! Five seconds into the game Marc Crayton (2-3-5) set up Tim Poulin (4-1-5) for the early lead. Only five seconds later, Crayton set Poulin up again and Timmy beat Brawler's net minder, Simao, to the short side. Ten seconds played Guppies up 2-0!! "I'd say that was a good start" stated Crayton. With the early lead the Guppies continued to pressure the Brawlers. Crayton would score his first goal of the night banging in a pass from Rob Murphy (0-3-3) while in front of Simao. Midway through the first, Brawlers forward Lasala found himself taking the "Poulin Express" as he and Poulin collide at center ice. " I wanted to make sure he was ok, I never even saw him" stated Poulin in a post game interview with ESPN. The Guppies would be in control with the 4-1 lead at the Half.

The Guppies added to their lead early in the Second Half as Jason Zito (1-0-1) buried a pass from Murphy. The Brawlers would score their second and last goal of the night only a few minutes later. The Brawlers had several great chances but they were turned aside by Joe Linskey. "Joe played a solid game and made several great saves" stated Rob Murphy as he skated out to his car (in full gear) immediately after the game. The Guppies took control of the game in two scoring outburst. The first was at the beginning of the game, the second came in the middle of the Second Half. At the 11:50 mark Poulin scored on a rebound of a Brian Kelly (1-2-3) shot. A few seconds later, 11:27, Kelly found a loose ball in the high slot and fired a shot past Simao. Finally, At the 11:00 mark Dan Pequita (1-2-3) finished the Flurry by scoring his first of the night. The Guppies rounded out the scoring when Murphy hit a wide open Tim Poulin in the lower slot. Poulin buried the pass into the open side of the Brawler's net.
