Catchin' up with... Dan
Pequita
Dan Pequita saw his first action with
the Killingworth Guppies this season. He has (as of 9/7/03) ten
goals and 20 assists while appearing in 8 contests for the league
leading Gupps. The 24-year-old defenseman found his way into
the Guppies lineup and he has been a welcome addition.
Killingworth Traded several future prospects to obtain the rights of
Pequita from the Z-Rink C-league Mapleleafs. The South Windsor native is
certain to be a player to watch for years to come.
Pequita answered
questions from Killingworth-guppies.com users on Thursday, September 4th.
Thanks to
all those who submitted questions. Below are the submissions that were chosen
and Dan's responses.
NICHOLAS from NEWINGTON, CT asked: What are some short and long-term goals you have set
for yourself?

A:
My biggest goal is to stay with the club, have a good year and help contribute
towards winning the B-League Championship. Short term, I really want to
get my "Sponge Bob Square pants" Ice cream bar after games. I
think everyone has the same goals and I'm no different.
ANDREW
from KILLINGWORTH, CT asked: Do you feel that too much is
expected of a you right away?
A:
No, I don't think so. I think there has to be high expectations. That's part of
being a on the Guppies. It's just something you have to learn to deal with and
get used to.
TIGER
from BOSTON, MA asked: Any changes in your preparation and
conditioning for the upcoming season, between this year and last? If so, what
are the changes?
A:
TW is that you? Just keep your eye on the ball and your swing will work itself
out.I mean you are Tiger Woods, everything will work out! I'm leaving you
tickets to our next game.
DOMINIQUE
from JOILIET, QC, CANADA asked: What part of your game do you want to
improve the most?
A: I'm
tied as the second leading scorer on the team and I'm like the top
defenseman! Linskey is right, some of you people are annoying! I guess my
shot or passing, Happy?
ANDY
from CHARLOTTE, NC asked: What assets do you think you
bring to an already solid Killingworth hockey club? Can we expect to ever see
you in a Charlotte Pigeons Uniform?
A:
Well, I'm an offensive player. I like to kind of create offensive chances and I
also pride myself on my defensive game. I'm not looking to go to
Charlotte, but If I ever get sent down, I'm sure I'll enjoy my time there.
ELIZABETH
P. from HADDAM, CT asked: Which Guppies player has helped
you the most and maybe taken you under his wing?
A:
Rob Murphy's been great to me. Also, Team "Old Guy" has
been great to me, kind of showing me the ropes a little bit, and they are
great role models.
MARKUS
from SPRINGFIELD, MA asked: Do you think there was an
upside in playing down with the Maple Leafs for a few
seasons?
A:
I think so. Obviously I would've liked to play in Killingworth, but I got
a chance to grow as a player and got a lot more confident. It's a good league!.
Hopefully Our new agreement with the Pigeons will work out the same way for
other Guppie prospects.
KURT
from DEEP RIVER, CT asked: Did you ever think in your life that
you might have a chance to play for the Guppies?
A:
Oh, it's hard to look at situations like that. Things might have been
different, but I love the situation we have here in Killingworth. You have a
chance to win with a club that's very good and has a chance to win many
Championships. It's exciting to have that opportunity.
GREG
from KILLINGWORTH, CT, US asked: Do you have any pre-game
superstitions?
A:
I'm more routine than superstitions. I'm not too superstitious of a game, but I
do follow a routine. I do the same thing everyday. I take my nap and eat
somewhat similar stuff everyday. I like to spend a lot of
time alone with my sticks
DAN
from PORTLAND, CT asked: What's been your biggest obstacle
in becoming a hockey player?
A:
I think just adversity, like me loving to play with dolls. You have to work
hard and always battle through when things don't go your way. You can't give
up, you just have to work harder. Either that, or keep your doll collection on
the down low!
SASKIA
from NEW YORK CITY asked: What's the most interesting
thing you've ever read about yourself in a publication or on the internet?
A:
You try not to read too much stuff about yourself. I take it all with a grain
of salt, but, I usually only read the good stuff. Now you just kind of sluff
that stuff off and just get used to it.
