- GUPPIES LOSE IN A WEAK EFFORT VS THE BIOHAZARD 7-5 - Glastonbury, CT June 8th, 2003. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies spring 2003 season. 6/8/03- The Killingworth Guppies lost a game they really
needed to win and a game they should have won! In a rare matinee game
vs the Biohazard the Gupps fell behind early as the Hazard score two quick
goals. The Guppies would get back in the game when Brian Kelly(1-1-2)
scored to cut the lead in half. The Biohazard would score again minutes
later to take back the 2 goal lead. The pace of the game continued to
be fast and as the Guppies controlled the flow of the game. Jason Zito
(1-0-1) would make it 3-2 off a pass from Kelly. With the score 4-2 late
in the First Half Kelly was hit with a cheap shot along the boards and
was thrown out of the game when he defended himself. "It's kind of
ridiculous that someone would hit you between the legs like that, I kind
of lost my head and took a stupid penalty, All I should have done was
remember the number, hopefully we play them again" With Kelly out
of the game the Guppies skated into the Second Half down by two. Robert
Murphy (2-1-3) lead the Guppies back scoring the next two goals and tying
the game at four. The Hazard would again take the lead only to be answered
by a great individual play by Brian Mulcahy (1-0-1) "Fong (Mulcahy)
has some of the best hands and he just stickhandled around the entire
team" explained Guppies forward Marc Crayton. The Biohazard would
score the game winning goal late in the second and then add a empty net
goal with seconds remaining. Things don't get easier for the Guppies as
they face off Wednesday Night, 6/11, vs The GCP at 900pm.
