- THE KITCHEN IS CLOSED! LINSKEY LEADS THE GUPPIES TO A 10-0 VICTORY OVER THE KNIGHTS - Glastonbury, CT May 28, 2003. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies spring 2003 season. 05/28/03- With the recent retirement of Patrick Roy, there
has been a lot of question who will step up to fill the goaltending void
in the Hockey world. Joseph Linskey is answering that question and added
more ink to the Guppie record books. Linskey completed his second shut
out in as many games by stopping all 16 of the Knights shots and keeping
the Knights star forward Matt Zuba off the score sheet. "It's really
nothing they shot the ball and I stop it, there's really nothing much
to it" said Linskey during a post game interview. "The guys
have really step up their game after our loss a couple of weeks ago"
Have they ever, Since losing their first game in two years the Guppies
have out scored their two opponents 19-0. "We really needed to lose
that game, it was a huge wake up call" stated Guppies Assistant Captain
Marc Crayton. The Guppies came out quick with goals from Tim Poulin (2-0-2)
and Rob Murphy (2-3-5). Marc Crayton(1-1-2) would score his 10th goal
of the season when he tapped in a Murphy pass into the open Knights goal.
The Guppies continued to pour on the pressure as Poulin would score his
second of the night before leaving the game with a shoulder injury. The
Guppies team doctor stated "it doesn't look to be serious but Tim
will have an MRI done Thursday to make sure everything is OK". Murphy
scored his second of the night before Jason Zito (1-2-3) rounded out the
first half scoring off a pass from Brian Kelly (2-2-4). With the Guppies
up 6-0 at the half there was little question on what the out come of the
game would be. However, the Gupps were in a giving mood and they kept
giving the knights all they could handle. Kelly would start the second
half scoring by netting his two goals late in the half. Brian Mulcahy
also added two goals late in the Second half to make it a 10-0 game. "I
can't believe Fong (Mulcahy) was hanging during a 9-0 game" stated
a bewildered Jason Zito. Mulcahy replied "What?? I was just talking
to the goalie". The Guppies face off next against the Sabre Cats
on Wednesday June 4th at 700pm. Plenty of good seats are available.
