THE GUPPIES SIDE STEP THE SIDEWINDERS
9/6/02- Start counting on your other hand Linskey!! That's right the
Guppies are now 6-0-0 for the 2002 season. Last night against the Sidewinders
the Guppies swam to a 6-2 victory lead by Robert Murphy (2-2-4) and
Mike Halle (2-0-2). The Sidewinders scored early but the Guppies swam
back as Tom Mierkiewicz made it 2-1 with a wicked SLOW slap shot from
the point. Guppies defenseman Tim Gessner said "It was one of the
best change up shots I've ever saw or one of the worst slap shots I
ever saw... you choose!" The game turned more physical during the
second period and that favored the Guppies. "Cap was throwing the
body and Mierk was diving face first in front of the ball" Marc
Crayton explained. Crayton himself took several beatings in front of
the Sidewinders net which translated into Guppie Goals. Defensively
the Guppies were strong again and received great goaltending from Joe
Linskey.
The Guppies have a double header next week, starting at 730pm when they
faceoff against The Scratches; Then at 1030pm The Guppies take on Team
Aloi. All tickets for next Thursday's game are 2 for 1, so by a ticket
to the 730 game and the 1030 game is free. Also between the games Team
members will be available for photos and autographs.
