Official Press Release

- THE STREAK IS OVER!!! GARY COLMAN REDUCES GUPPIES TO CHUM 10-4 -

Glastonbury, CT May 14th, 2003. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies spring 2003 season.

5/14/03 - The Streak is over. 27 games, 2 championships, 2 years, the Killingworth Guppies haven't had this feeling in quite some time, the feeing of losing a game. The Gary Coleman Project, like most Child actors were fired up and ready to prove something Wednesday night. The GCP would strike early and often taking the 1-0 lead just over one minute into the game. They continued to pour on the pressure taking a 4-0 lead just over five minutes in. " We just came out flat and it cost us" expained Brian Mulcahy "I really blame myself" The Gupps would take a another hit when star forward Jason Zito was highsticked in the face and had to leave for the half. The Guppies tried to swim back into it when Tim Poulin scored on a break away pass from Robert Murphy. Poulin was still upset after the game about missed opportunities " I went 1-4 on break aways tonight, I really need to get those" Leading 4-1 the GCP added to their lead but later Mulcahy buried a pass from Marc Crayton late in the first half cutting back the lead again. With the score 5-2 at the Half and the Guppies controlling the play and out shooting the GCP, there was a lot of high spirits about a Killingworth Come back. However, just 12 seconds in to the second a weak GCP shot beat Joe Linskey on the stick side. "That really took the wind out of our sails" explained Guppies Captain Brian Kelly " You really can't blame Joe, he stood on his head tonight and we really didn't offer much help" The Gupps again tried to get back into the Game when Murphy scored his seventh goal of the season. As they did all night long the GCP answered the Guppies tally and held back any Guppies attempt of a come back. Late in the Second the Gupps had little step in their fins as it became clear they were about to lose their first game. "27-0 there aren't many teams out there that could accomplish that" stated Marc Crayton "We knew this day would come, I mean we are good but we can't win them all" John Carroll added " None of our guys should have their heads d own, not after what we have accomplished as a team the past two Years" he continued "Tonight the GCP pulled us out of the water put is on the hot deck and watched as we flipped around dying" The Guppies look to start a new winning streak Wednesday night as the faceoff against the Blue Devils at 700pm.

Side Notes:
