GUPPIES
STORM PAST THE CYCLONES 6-2
11/8/02-When the Guppies skated on to the Deck, at the ZRink, on Friday
night they were looking for their fifteenth straight victory since moving
to Glastonbury earlier this year. The Guppies were faced up against
a strong and talented Cyclones team who have been struggling as of late.
The Cyclones would score first on a nice low shot that eluded Guppies
netminder Joseph Linskey. The Guppies returned with numerous chances
but those opportunities were turned aside time and time again by the
Cyclones Goaltender. Midway though the first Rob Murphy(2-1-3)was able
to break through scoring a pair of goals and giving the Guppies a 2-1
lead. Later in the First, Guppies Rookie Defenseman Mike Szwed(1-1-2)scored
on a nice slap shot from the point making it a 3-1 game. In the Second
period the Cyclones scored to make it a 3-2 game but, later on a Cyclones
power play Murphy set Brian Kelly(1-0-1) in on a breakaway. Kelly scored
on the shorthanded opportunity making it A 4-2 Guppies lead. The Guppies
added two more goals later in the period, down grading the Cyclones
to a tropical depression. The Guppies Defense as always was strong despite
the quiet night at the office "We normally have a lot more work
to do" stated Guppies Defenseman Tom Meirkeiwicz. Joe Linskey had
a slow night stopping 12 of the 14 Cyclones shots for the night. As
for the Guppies winning their 15th straight game and remaining a perfect
15-0 at the Zrink, Guppies Defenseman Tim Gessner "We are just
trying to enjoy it right now, this is a great barn and we are having
a great time but we all know it can't last forever". The Guppies
