FORMER CHAMPIONS TEAM GARCIA,
OUT PLAYED AND OUT CLASSED BY
THE GUPPIES
11/1/02- It was a sad day for Team Garcia, the saddest since their long
time hero Jerry past away back in 1995. Coming off the B-League Championship
last season they thought nothing much of the C-League Champion Killingworth
Guppies, maybe they were still foggy from all the smoke??? Whatever
it was it lead to the Killingworth manhandling of Team Garcia 7-4! Early
in the First period with Team Garcia on the Power play Brian Kelly (2-0-2)
would score shorthanded giving the Guppies a 1-0 lead. As Kelly scored
again early in the first the writing was on the wall the Guppies were
about to unleash a big Can of Whoop-_ss on Team Garcia. Marc Crayton
(1-0-1) made it 3-0 when he buried a nice pass from Robert Murphy(1-1-2).
Team Garcia tried to keep thing respectable by scoring the next goal
but that's when Jason Zito(3-0-3)decided that he was ready to just bury
Team Garcia. Jason scored another hat trick his second in as many games.
Zito couldn't believe what he was seeing out there "These guys
are the Champions??? The Quicksilver is better than this team"
Team Garcia was all but out of the game when they sank to a new level
by giving the Guppies multiple cheap shots the worst of which, was the
check that Team Garcia Goalie put on the Cap "Hey they were losing
big time I guess that's all they had left" stated Kelly. Again
the Guppies defense was second to none as Mierk, Carroll, Gessner, and
Halle played solid. The play of the Game came from Mike Halle(0-1-1)
when dove from behind to poke check the ball away from a Team Garcia
forward "It was a great Defensive effort" stated Guppies forward
Dave Armenia. Joe Linskey was as solid as ever answering the call and
turning aside 25 Team Garcia shots. The Guppies face off again this
Friday November 8 vs The Cyclones, game time is 800pm.
Side Notes:
-Guppies had a full roster for the first time this season.
-Robert Murphy had to leave the game earlier due to a minor illness,
his agent said that he is doing much better at this time.
-Tom Mierkiewicz was thrown out of Fridays game for having 3 minor penalties,
he is the first Guppie to be ever thrown out of a game.
-The Guppies have signed Mike Swzed to a contract for the 2002-2003
season, Mike will only play if there are any changes in the current
line up.
