12/26/2006- Killingworth Guppies Sportsnet announced earlier today that the Killingworth Guppies have signed on to skate in this years Zrink Christmas Tournament to be played on 12/29/06. The Guppies, who haven't stepped on the dek since losing the B-League Championship in OT vs the Ballsmashers back on September 5th, will use the tournament for a pre season tune-up. Killingworth team physician/trainer, Dr. Ray Stanz, saw this as a great opportunity for the Guppy players to get back in game shape. "I'm a realist! I have no doubt that many of our guys haven't been off the couch since 9/6!" stated the doctor.

For this reason the Guppies will be participating in the Zrink's Puck C division for the tournament. Team spokesman Shasta McNasty address the media's concerns with playing in the lower bracket. "The fact of the matter is this is an old team! 95% of this team is 30+ and the 30 and under guys are probably the most out of shape guys on the team."   It was well documented that after last season Xmas tournament several Guppie players were complaining of shortness of breath. Dr Stanz believes this season will only be worse "I'll have several tanks of oxygen ready to go" stated the doctor.

Despite the physical hurdles the Fish need to get over, Killingworth will look to better their finish from last season's tournament. In 2005, the Guppies finished second in the Round-Robin only to fall short of the tournament finals being upset in the Semi-finals by an upstart C&R Auto team. 

Tickets to this event go on sale on Thursday morning 12/28 at 8am.  The Schedule will be posted on this site once it's released.
