12/29/2007- The Killingworth Guppies ended 2007 with another Championship run as they won the 2007 Z-Rink Xmas Tournament Saturday night by beating The Hurleys 3-0 in the Championship game. Joe Linskey lead the way with an impressive 0.50 goals against average for the tournament, while posting three shutouts. "I told Kelly not to expect that type of effort this Spring" stated Linskey referring to the Guppies upcoming 2008 Spring Season.

The Guppies opened the tournament with a victory over a revamped Riptides team. The Guppies managed to pull away late in the game despite some great goaltending by Tide's netminder Jon Grainey. Both Brian Mulcahy and Jon Stevenson stepped up their game to help power the Fish to victory.

In their second game the Guppies had their first meeting with the Hurley's. The two teams traded some great scoring opportunities but they were matches with some superb goaltending. Despite the help of several CT Blazes "professional" players the Hurleys couldn't keep up with the Fish.

Game Three, pitted the Fish against fellow B-2 Leaguers, The Stingers. This game turned rough as several body checks were thrown. Both teams trashed talked but it was the Guppies who got in the last word, winning the game 3-0! With the win the Gupps finished the round robin undefeated, in first place, and with a bye to the Championship game.

In the Semi-Finals The Hurleys took the sting out of the Stingers to earn the right to play in the Finals. In the Finals, the Hurleys ran into an unbeatable Joe Linskey in the Guppies net. The Game was close and the Hurley's had their chances but Linskey just played out of his mind, making one incredible save after another. The Gupps offense took over from there scoring 3 times to secure the Championship.

With the victory the Guppies capped off an amazing year, which included back to back B League Championships. With the addition of the Xmas Championship, 2007 will forever be known as "The Year of the Fish"!
