Official Game Summary |
Glastonbury, CT August 7, 2007. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2007 season.
08/07/2007- Tuesday was another Guppie's "Family Night" and the ZRink was packed with spectators who were excited to watch their favorite non-professional hockey team play. The Guppies didn't disappoint their fans, especially Keith Millen (6-1-7) who's fan club "Millen Time" was whipped into a frenzy as the Guppie's forward had a career night. Millen score the Guppies first two goals of the game before earning his only assist of the game, firing a puck off Brian Mulcahy's (2-0-2) backside and into the Stingers net. Mulchay would score his second goal of the night less than two minutes later, this time using his stick and not his ass! Marc Crayton (1-1-2) continued his hot streak, scoring his 10th goal of the season midway through the first half. Millen would score two more goals before the end of the half to give the Guppies the commanding 7-0 lead.
Up by seven goals and with the temperature in the ZRink warmer than the outside temperature it was no surprise that the Guppies were looking to mail this game in. As the Guppies slowed down the Stingers gained speed, scoring the first goal of the night just over a minute into the half. Millen scored his 5th goal of the game to give the Guppies their seven goal lead again and Dan Pequita (1-2-3) scored only seconds later to increase the lead to eight. That's when the Guppies licked the stamp and officially mailed it in! The Stingers again took advantaged and score three times in the final ten minutes of the game, including twice, in less than a minute, late in the game. Despite the late goals, Joe Linskey had one of his best efforts of the season. Guppies win 10-4!
Next week the Guppies face off against the Spartans, game time 11pm! Yeah...11pm!! Tickets are free.....we just hope you make it out there! Why the late start? Ask Guppies spokesman Shasta McNasty "We scheduled this game at 11pm for our fans in the Alaskan Time Zone". Makes sense to us!
SIDE NOTES:
- Jason Zito, Mike Halle and Tim Poulin were healthy scratches Tuesday night.
- Plus One: Millen had a huge night Tuesday scoring 6 goals! Keith was one goal short of tying the Guppies Record for the most goals in a game. The record is 7, recorded by Brian Kelly on 8/20/2003 vs the Knights. However, Millen is closing in fast on Tim Poulin's Most Goals in a Season record! The record is 29 Goals, which Poulin reached twice (Summer 2003 & Spring 2004). Millen currently has 23 goals and, with at least 4 games remaining, has a good shot at topping that number. - Dave Armenia turned 41 Tuesday night ......bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase"Team Old Guy". Armenia was 29 when he joined the Guppies organization ......seems like a lifetime ago!
