Official Game Summary

Dog Biscuits; Guppies Beat Huskies 7-4!

Glastonbury, CT August 21, 2007. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2007 season.

08/21/2007- The Killingworth Guppies took on the UConn Huskies Tuesday night in front of a sold out ZRink crowd. UConn Men's Basketball coach Jim Calhoun drop the ceremonial game puck prior to the start. Calhoun was sporting his #4 Brian Mulcahy Guppies jersey. The Huskies added some extra talent in  their net recruiting the Ball Smasher's net minder who played in the prior game. Brian Kelly (1-2-3) got the Guppies scoring started when Tim Poulin (2-1-3) made a great defensive play to send both Kelly and Marc Crayton (0-2-2) in a lone on the Huskie's net. Jason Zito (2-0-2) took a pass from Crayton and gave the Guppies the 2-0 with just over five minutes remaining in the half.  The Guppies controlled the play and grossly out shot the Huskies. Then with just over two minutes remaining the Huskies got their fourth shot on net which was a goal. They would also score on their fifth shot on net with .20 remaining, it should be noted that the shot was taken from the red line. At the half  everything was all tied up at 2.

The Guppies looked a little frazzled after totally out playing the dogs but finding themselves locked in a 2-2 hockey game. Early in the second half the Guppies were killing a penalty when Poulin found Keith Millen (2-0-2) in the slot for a short handed goal. Millen would score again only a minute later to give the Guppies another two goal lead. The Huskies scored to make it 4-3, before Zito scored the game winning goal, firing the puck into the upper left side of the net! Poulin would round out the Guppies scoring netting a pair of goals late in the game.

The Guppies face off next week against the Ball Smashers at 10pm! The Guppies will need to win this game to secure first place, while a tie or a win for the Smashers will give them the top spot. The last time these teams met the Ball Smashers won 4-3. Despite the late start tickets to this game are almost sold out.

SIDE NOTES:

- Dan Pequita and Mike Halle were healthy scratches Tuesday night.

- The Guppies would like to welcome their newest fan. Ailey Rose Pequita was born at 4:44am on Monday 8/20. Both mom and baby are doing great! Congratulations go out to Dan and Ally.

- Joe Linskey had by far his worst performance in a Guppies sweater Tuesday night. Linskey let up four goals on nine shots. I'll repeat that so, it sinks in.......... 4 GOALS on 9 SHOTS! It was a statistical nightmare for Linskey!

- Guppies Captain, Brian Kelly turned 25years old Tuesday night, and by saying 25 we really mean 34! OUCH
