Official Press Release |
Glastonbury, CT June 12, 2007. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2007 season.
06/12/2007- The Guppies owed Thunder Bay for a Fin slapping! On May 1, 2007, TB beat the a shorthanded Guppies team 10-3! Tuesday night the tables were turned and it was pay back time. The Guppies went to work early as Keith Millen (3-0-3) scored .30 seconds into the game. The goals came early and often, Dave Armenia (2-2-4) scored the game winning goal less than 5 minutes in. The Guppies passed the puck around Thunder Bay's defensive zone setting up goal after goal. I hadn't seen something this bad since I saw the Boston Bruins get schooled by the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this year. Actually, I saw the Bruins get schooled a lot this season.....but lets get back to the Guppies game. The Guppies at times were taking longer than normal shifts, Dan Pequita (1-4-5)"I was in the middle of a four minute shift when Kelly pulled me off the dek! He then shot a look at me". Jason Zito (2-5-7)and Tim Poulin (2-4-6) played great games! They seemed to be all over the dek as both of them had a hand in at least half of the Guppies 12 goals. Joe Linskey looked good at times, but there's no mistake both goals that Linksey let in weren't "Lasers". "I saw that second goal actually crawl into the net" stated Guppies defenseman Rob Murphy (0-2-2). "That's messing with my plus/minus stats!".
The Guppies started the Second Half with a 9-2 lead and looked to close out Thunder Bay. However, the fish didn't go right for the kill. Just playing with the clearly defeated TB team, the Guppies took just over 11 minutes to score their 12th and final goal. Millen's third goal mercifully ended Tuesday night's experience for TB. However, one thing for sure the Bay will be looking to settle the score when they face the fish later this season.
SIDE NOTES:
- The Guppies were missing Mike "Gil" Halle last night..
- The "Original Four" played against each other last night. After which the new teams in the league faced off against each other. While Guppie Fans hate the Fire Ants, Ball Smashers, and Thunder Bay. They can't wait to hate the Spartans and Stingers! Welcome to the league.
- Expensive 30-Pack!! Dan Pequita forgot to purchase the 30-pack Tuesday night, which he had to purchase because of his first goal in last season's championship game. So, Danny had to treat the Guppies to a few pitchers at the local sports bar "The Diamond". Heads up to Guppy fans......Keep in mind, you never know when you'll see your favorite player at the diamond.
- From Brian, to Mulcahy, then Fong, Finally Rello, ......Now Bucci!?!? Has Guppies forward Brian Mulcahy been given yet another nickname? During and after the Gupps last game, fans heard #4's teammates refer to him as Bucci. So, the question is will Bucci stick or will it be cancelled faster than "ESPN's NHL Tonight"? Stay tuned!
