The Crayton/Bonds Connection Raises Questions
A Special Report from the Killingworth Crier 08/23/2007 - If you look at the Guppies stat page these days there's something in there that doesn't look very familiar? Is it Millen's or Murphy's point totals? No those are a little higher than normal and in Millen's goal column much higher. However, look a little lower on the sheet. Who's that tied for third in Goals this season....is that.....no it can't be......Marc Crayton? That's right Marc Crayton is currently tied for third on the Guppies in goals (12) and has also managed to chip in 11 assists. A dream or career season for Marc Crayton? You bet! But Crayton's new found knack to find the net has raised some serious questions. We all know of Barry Bonds and the issues that surround his tainted Home Run Record but could Marc Crayton be making some calls to BALCO himself? To connect the all the dots we have to go back to earlier this year when Crayton met Bonds. Crayton and Bonds played in a Charity Golf Tournament in Orlando back in March of 2007. The two quickly became friends and were seen at a few local hot spots after the tournament. During that golf outing Crayton also played in a foursome that included Bonds and Yankees DH Jason Giambi. Not the guys you want to be hanging out with if you're looking to buy a small tee shirt at the Baby Gap! It's also not the guys to be hanging around with when your goal scoring prowess goes from nonexistent to off the charts! While Crayton hasn't experienced any change in height, weight, muscle size, and strength, in fact he might have gone done in the latter. There just seems to be enough concern among the fans and hockey critics to link Crayton with performance enhancers. Marc has come out against the allocations "This is just ridiculous! I'm putting up numbers because of my efforts and nothing else. I have been known to drink a little Crunk, but that's it! These are just rumors and lies! They'll be gone soon enough". As for questions linking Bonds to Crayton, he quickly brushes them off "Everyone needs to calm down, I just played a few rounds of golf with the guy!" Crayton may hope that the storm of controversy blows by, but the numbers don't lie. Since the Guppies moved to Puck during the Summer 2005 Marc Crayton has only scored 13 goals prior to this season! Below is a breakdown of his production since the move.
Crayton's teammates seem to behind him! "I don't care what he's doing! As long as he scores goals" Guppies forward Brian Mulcahy. "Trust me, Crayton is clean! Now Kelly that's a different story" Joe Linskey Some others are a bit concerned "Crayton scoring goals takes some of the spot light off me. I don't like that!" stated Tim Poulin. When we asked Poulin if he was concern with Crayton's health after hearing the alocations, he stop and uttered "Oh, yeah! I meant to say I'm concerned for his health. It's not worth it Marc!" So, while there is no proof. Many are left to wonder if the connection is real and if Crayton is willing to go this far for on dek glory. Either way, one thing is for sure, Marc Crayton is making a name for himself!
