Guppies Tame Mad Dogs 5-3

Glastonbury, CT Aug 19, 2004. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Summer 2004 season.

Aug. 19, 2004 - Both the Guppies and the Mad Dogs were both shorthanded Thursday night as both teams only had 6 players, including the goalies. The Guppies were looking to level the playing field and get their first win against the Mad Dogs this season. They had a good start as Joseph Linskey was in net again Thursday. The Dogs however would score first as Sean Hawley scored when he walked in alone on Linskey. Hawley was the key to the Dogs offense as he scored all of the Mad Dogs goals. "It looked like the Sean Hawley Allstars in the first half" stated Guppies forward Tim Poulin. However, Marc Crayton scored off a shot from the top of the right hand circle. Hawley scored again to give the Dogs the one goal lead at the half 2-1.

In the Second Half the Guppies fought off the fatigue and the Dogs to take control of the game. Poulin scored his first of the night to tie the score at 2.  Brian Kelly would score his first of the night to give the Gupps the lead, only minutes after the Guppies killed off his Hooking penalty. Marc Crayton would set up Poulin again to give the Guppies the two goal lead. Late in the second half Poulin stepped up and played some solid Defense with both Kelly and Jason Zito. Meanwhile, Crayton and Dave Armenia were pouring it on in the offense end. Kelly would seal the game as he and Poulin connected for the empty net goal. Joseph Linskey was great in the Killingworth net as he turned aside several great scoring chance by the Dogs. "Linskey was the difference tonight" stated Guppies forward Dave Armenia.

The Guppies face off against the Tacos next week at 11pm! YES 11pm.......Don't expect much of a write up next week!!
