Official Press Release |
Guppies flapping on hot pavement, loose season opener to Mad Dogs 7-5
Glastonbury, CT July 2004. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2004 season.
Our beloved fish start off the summer session out manned. Crowed was thin
as well with only half the chairs in the upper deck filled. Thanks to Jay Z,
the Gupps had a last minute reprieve recruiting a net minder (Matt Dimascio)
saved Gupps from playing Le Goalie in net. Guppies started out strong
with a 3 point lead as Tim Poulin scored a hat trick first period
Mad Dogs rally back last 2 minutes of the period to bring the score within one
at the half. First ten minutes of the second half determined the games
outcome as Mad Dogs scored 1:50 into the second half and burried two more goals
before the Guppies could answer. Mad Dogs came to play, and showed up with a
full roster and 2 full lines. The Gupps played the entire game with the
same line no subs and called a first timeout with approximately 10 minutes to
play in the second half. Game final 7-5.. Guppies next Game Thursday Night
at 8:00 PM, Tickets available at Country Cloverleaf and Country Squire in Ktown.
SIDE NOTES:
- Guppies were short Brian Kelly, Marc Crayton, Brian Mulcahy, John Carroll,
Joe Linskey, Mike Halle, all healthy scratches for the game, but obviously took
the bus to the wrong location.
- Guppies not this short of air and let down since the Paris Hilton video first
hit the internet.
- Carroll rumored to have unofficially retired, or in secret talks with management
to resurrect contract, although the secret is out now that this release is public,
duh.
- Mid game negotiations with the officials to move the Mad Dog net 3 feet to
the right so some of the Guppy shots would be on net, failed and the goal remained
at the original position for the entire game.
