Official Press Release

Guppies School District 5 8-3!

Glastonbury, CT May 2, 2006. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2006 season.

May 2, 2006 - Tuesday night the Guppies faced off against the always tough District 5 squad. However, D5 has had a tough go this season posting a 1-7-0 record thus far. A few words from Guppies Nation for the District 5 faithful "hang in their D5 fans better days lie ahead!".  The Guppies had an uncharacteristic season  back in the Fall of 2005, in which the Killingworth fans saw their team in complete disarray. However, with losing comes a high draft choice and the Guppies are back on track as will the D5 squad soon enough. Despite the tough season the District played a very spirited game against the Fish. Dan Pequita (2-2-4) got the Guppies going scoring on a nice pass from Tim Poulin (1-1-2). D5 would score at the midpoint of the half to knot the game up at one.  The Guppies were quick to respond when only .44 seconds later Brian Kelly (1-3-4) fired a shot past the D5 netminder.  Not to be out done the District would score again to tie the game at two. Later, Jason Zito (1-1-2) found himself alone in front of the D5 net after a pass from Dave Armenia (0-1-1). Zito scored to give the Guppies the 3-2 lead. Only seconds later, it was "Millen Time" as Keith Millen scored his first of three on the night. With the two goal lead the Guppie fans started to breathe a little easier as the fish started to take control of the game.  Poulin would score on a Power Play late in the half to give the Guppies the 5-2 lead at the break.

Early in the second half, Dan Pequita scored his second goal of the night. The only problem was he scored on Linskey!! Pequita tried to cut off a cross ice pass but just managed to tip the puck past a sprawling Joe Linskey. "That's something I expect Kelly to do" stated Linskey in the post game interview "Then again I know Danny likes to score goals"  Pequita was quoted in the post game interview "Hey a goal is a goal!! That should count towards my stats"  With the new found life thanks to the "Pequita" goal District 5 made a solid push to get themselves back into the game. However, Linskey was equal to the task "Yeah, I'm pretty good when my defensemen aren't scoring on me" stated Linskey. Millen would right the ship when he scored his second of the night. Minutes later Pequita would complete the "Hat Trick" when he scored his second of the night on the D5 goaltender. Not to be out done, Millen would score his third of the night, to get his second Hat Trick in as many games, and give the Guppies the 8-3 lead. After Millen's goal the hats rained down on the dec, including one training bra! No doubt a Linskey fan!! The Guppies would skated to the 8-3 victory.

The Guppies have a three week break as their next game is on Sunday May 21st at 5pm. A limited amount of tickets are available for this matinee game.
