Guppies Drown Warlocks 7-3

Glastonbury, CT March 14, 2004. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2006 season.

Mar. 14, 2006 - Tuesday night the Guppies opened up their Spring 2006 campaign against a strong Warlocks team. The Guppies looked sluggish to start the game as the Warlocks went right at the fish. However, Guppies netminder Jon Graney was equal to the task making several great saves early on. The Guppies got some breathing room as Brian Kelly (3-3-6) scored a goal breaking down the left side and finding a hole just inside the far post. The Guppies looked to add to their lead only moments later when Greg Prayzner fired a great shot off the post. It remained 1-0 until late in the first period when a defensive miscue led to a Warlocks goal. However, the Guppies would regain the lead when Rob Murphy (1-2-3) found Kelly in the high slot and he beat the Locks netminder to the short side. At  the half Fish up 2-1!

In the Second Half the Guppies jumped out early to grab the two goal lead when Dan Pequita (2-0-2) buried some garbage in front of  the net. Pequita was quoted after the game "Kelly shot it and I was there. That's it." A man of few words! The Warlocks scored again to make it a one goal game but the fish pulled away as Keith Millen (1-2-3) scored only moments later. Kelly scored his third of the game to make it a 5-2 off a pass from Marc Crayton (0-1-1). Crayton not only helped the Guppies in the offensive end but was also very strong in defensive zone "Marc was back checking all over the place tonight which really helped us on defense" stated Murphy in a post game interview. Pequita made it 6-2 with just under ten minutes remaining before the Warlocks cut the lead to three. Murphy put the game out of reach at the 3:53 mark scoring his first of the season. GUPPIES WIN!!  Lets hope they can get some better attendance by players as they look to continue to grow the legend that is Killingworth Guppies Hockey.

The Guppies have yet to receive a full schedule. Please check back to our site for up coming games. A reminder that for a limit time the Killingworth Dunkin Doughnuts will be giving away Guppies tickets w/the purchase of a Bacon, Egg, Cheese value meal.
