Guppies Skate Into Finals: Beat Fighting Saints 10-3

Glastonbury, CT June 9, 2005. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2005 season.

June 9, 2005 - The Guppies faced off against the Fighting Saints on Thursday night with the winner earning a bid in the Spring 2005 Ball League Finals. The Guppies were heading into the game as a two goal favorite according to the fine folks in Vegas. However, the Saints were coming off a first round upset of the Red Wings and looked to continue their run to the Finals.  The Guppies took control of this game early Scoring the first four goals of the game. The Saints had several opportunities but Linskey was equal to the task. At the half the Guppies were in control 4-0!

The Saint's finally found the back of the net early in the second half as they scored on the Power Play. Only a few minutes later the Saints would make it 4-2 as the Guppies got into penalty trouble again. Penalty trouble hasn't been a problem for the Guppsthis season but this night four different Guppies visited the sin bin. With the score 4-2 and after a minor scrum in front of the Guppies net the fish turned it up a notch. The Guppies would rattle off the next 5 goals to make is 9-2 with just over 8 minutes remaining in the game. The Saints would make it 8-3 when a Kelly and Halle miscommunication lead to a Saints break away....."Personally, I blame Linskey for that goal! If you can't stop the occasional break away, then what are you doing in this league?"   stated Kelly in a post game interview.  Linskey fired back "That stuff never happens when Carroll or Murphy are out there.......Pequita.......well that's a different story?"  Later in the Second Marc Crayton.............Wait was Crayton even there? I know I didn't see him out there......wait .......I remember him missing several opportunities!!  The Guppies would round out the scoring for the 10-3 victory and a birth to the finals.

In the night's other Semi finals game Evil Sports beat Pepsi Express.
