Glastonbury, CT March 31, 2005. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2005 season.

March 31, 2004 - The Ball Busters came out flying Thursday night as they looked to take down the Guppies for their first win of the Season. The Guppies had strong pressure but were unable to crack the Busters defense. The Ball Busters made several offensive threats but were turned aside by Linskey. Joe's best save came at the 13 minute mark as he stop a Buster's Breakaway to keep the game knotted at 0! Craig Zito (2-2-4) finally got the Guppies on the board at the 11:46 mark as he skated the ball out of the corner and was able to push the ball into the Ball Busters net. Only a minute later Rob Murphy (1-2-3) fired a shot from the point to score the eventual game winner. At that Point the Flood gates opened for the Guppies as Dan Pequita (1-1-2) scored only seconds later. The Ball Busters were able to make it a 3-1 game as they scored on their second shot of the Game! Later in the period Tim Poulin (1-2-3) buried a pass from Murphy and Brian Kelly (2-1-3) picked up some garbage in front to give the Guppies the commanding 5-1 lead. Jason Zito (2-2-4) picked up his first of the season to end the first half; Gupps up 6-1!!

In the Second, the Guppies continued to give The Ball Busters more than they could handle as Kelly scored his second of the night as the teams played 3 on 3. Two minutes later Marc Crayton (1-0-1) scored on a low shot to the stick side as he skated in from the high slot. Only 21 seconds later John Carroll fired a shot from the point that bounced off of two players and into the Balls net. The Zito brothers (Jason and Craig) would round out the Guppies scoring as Killingworth Mercied the Ball Busters with 14:49 remaining in the Second Half.

The Guppies have next week off with their bye week. They return to action on 4/11 at 8pm vs the Mustangs. This will  be a rare Monday night appearance for the Fish. However, team officials were excited to have the Guppies play on a different night. Tickets are limited!!

SIDE NOTES:

- Yeah you Guessed it Mike Halle was a Scratch Again!!

- Linskey's Save Percentage was taking a serious hit when the Ball Busters scored their only goal of the game on their second shot. Nice Work Joe!

- Retro Night!! The Guppies May 5th game against the Fighting Saints will mark their 10 Year Anniversary to the Day. The Gupps first faced off against the Maple Leafs on May 5th 1995. To Celebrate the Guppies will hold their annual Retro night as players will wear their old Jerseys. This is always a fan favorite.
