Official Press Release |
Glastonbury, CT April 11, 2005. ZRink - Killingworth Guppies Spring 2005 season.
April 11, 2005 - This might be the shortest write up in Gupps history as Killingworth just dominated this game from the start. Tim Poulin started his four Goal night just 42 seconds into the game. Marc Crayton added to the lead, scoring at the 17:31 mark off of a Jason Zito pass. Four the next twelve minutes the Gupps controlled the play and passed around the Mustangs before Dan Pequita scored his first of the night. Brian Kelly scored his only goal of the night when he received a pass from Mike Halle on the point and bury it. Poulin would wrap up the First Half scoring and give the Gupps the 5-0 lead.
In the Second The Mustangs tried to get some offense started but Joe Linskey was equal to the task. Linskey's best save came early in the second when Defensemen Kelly and Rob Murphy were caught down low in the offensive zone leading to a Mustangs breakaway. Linskey stoned to scoring attempt with a great glove save! Pequita scored his second of the night as the writing was on the wall, The Mustangs were about to go down! Poulin added two more goals as Jason Zito and Crayton scored to help the Guppies Mercy the Stangs late in the Second half. Not even Dean Youngblood could have helped these horses Monday as they were clearly over matched.
Guppies faceoff next week against the Chiefs at 10:00pm!! Plenty of tickets still available
SIDE NOTES:
- Front Runner for Brian Blair Award, Mike Halle, Made a guest appearance on the Guppies roster Monday night. Is this a sign of things to come? Stay tuned to the "Halle Watch"
- Linskey made 7 saves for his second shut out of the season on Monday. Joe's current GAA is at 1.00, Almost unheard of in Roller Hockey. When asked if Linskey was that good, Team Captain Brian Kelly started laughing for about 30 minutes straight. Once he gained his composure he stated "No Comment, Actually........ NO!!"
- North of the Border, Several Guppie players will not be at the April 21st game against the Chiefs as they will be participating in an Can Am Ice Hockey Tournament in Montreal.
-Lady Byng up for graps! With only 9 penalty minutes through the first four games, and with only two players (Kelly 5, C. Zito 4) accounting for those minutes the Lady Byng looks to be the toughest trophy to win this season.
