Catchin' up with... Tim Poulin

Tim Poulin is one of the premier play makers in the Killingworth organization, consistently dishing up large amount of goals in his two seasons with the Guppies. The 28-year-old forward was signed by the Killingworth Guppies in 2003 after seven long years of negotiations. The Newington, CT. native led the Guppies in points and goals through Saturday's Playoff game vs the Knights. In 20 games played, his career numbers are: 47 goals, 29 assists and 76 points. Poulin has been a mainstay on the top of the Guppies Stat page since his arrival.  He played for  CCSU Ice Hockey when he was originally drafted 3rd overall by the Killingworth Guppies in the 1996 Entry Draft.  The Guppies re-drafted Tim 12th overall in 2003.

Poulin answered questions from Killingworth-guppies.com users on Thursday, September 18.

Thanks to all those who submitted questions. Below are the submissions that were chosen and Tim's responses.

CONRAD  from Wethersfield, CT asked: Who was your childhood hockey hero? Why?

Catchin' up with...

  • Dan Pequita
  • Joseph Linskey

A: It was Gordie Howe and then Wayne Gretzky, but at age 12 or 13 Wayne Stopped scoring and was more of a set guy. Set up guys are suckers, I'm all about the Goals!

KYLE from Charlotte, NC asked: How did it feel to start over with a new team? Was it hard?

A: Hell No! I'm Tim Poulin, T PO if you will. When you are as good as me starting out is never hard.  All I do is go out there, score goals  and the guys love me.  If I'm Brian Kelly then yeah I'm struggling but not Tim Poulin.

GREG from ST PETE, FL asked: What are the differences and similarities in the role you have with the Guppies, compared to the one you had with the CCSU?

A: There's a lot of offense on this team and coming in I thought I would be mainly on an offensive line all the time. I'm the Guy that scores It's what I do. I did it in college and I do it now!

NORA from Middlesex County, CT. asked: What part of your game do you feel you need to improved as a Guppie?

A: Nora, Are you kidding me? Look at the stats and tell me what I need to improve.......How about nothing!  I'm a great offensive threat and when I want to I can play defense. Actually why should I even play defense? That's the defensemen job! I'll score and do my job, they better do their job and not let the other team score. Nora, I'm going to leave some free tickets to Saturday's game...... Take some Notes!

NICK from Newington, CT asked: What do you do after you lose a tough game, Do you try to forget or try to learn from it?

A: Immediately there's a way to forget it. After a tough loss you probably find me in the Parking lot drinking a 30- pack or either that on the phone talking to my agent to get me off this team.  After we lost the championship game last season, I think I did both! luckily we don't lose often.

TIM from RINDGE, NH asked: What are your thoughts about Brian Kelly in the team's captain position?

A: Good Question Tim, It must be the name. Anyways, I think Kelly has worn out his position as the team Captain, I mean he's been the Captain since 1995. I believe the captaincy needs some new blood, A guy like me would be a great fit!

DANIEL from NEWINGTON, CT asked: What happened to you in 1996 that made you walk away from the bargaining table w/the Guppies?

A: Tim PONLIN Happened! They misspelled my name,  I'm Tim Poulin, I'm a top player and I need to be recognized as a top talent! You can misspell Crayton, Kelly, Linskey, or Armenia but you can't misspell POULIN!

JAMES from MADISON, CT asked: With all of the Guppies accomplishments over the years, Coming in did you think you could be a guy to help continue the tradition?

A: Listen, I have respect for the Guppies blue & white  jersey like players that wear the Montreal Canadians Red, white and blue jerseys. I wanted to come to Killingworth to win Championships, I was all messed up after last seasons OT lose in the finals. We are going to win A lot more, Trust me!

DARRYL from HARTFORD, CT asked: I was wondering why you seem to be always late for games?

A: Well Darryl, Do  you have a wife and new baby? I didn't think so! Hell you can't even get a date, who are you kidding? Listen, I maybe late to games but when I get there I light it up! Who else on the Guppies can do that? NO ONE! Don't worry about me, you need to find yourself a girl!

KYLE from Boston, MA  asked: Where do you think Killingworth is in terms of being a contender this year?

A: Well, considering we are 11-0-0 and one win away from a championship, I say we are a contender. Kyle, you put T PO on a team and it's an instant contender!

Thanks for the questions I'll be at the game late next week but I'll be there after sporting my new Tee shirt!
